We are pleased to announce that Senator Amy Klobuchar will keynote State of the Net. Senator Klobuchar’s comments will cover a range of tech policy issues and likely will touch upon antitrust issues. Regardless of your position on competition policy, the last decade witnessed enormous growth in Internet platforms spanning both the Obama and Trump Administrations. The COVID-induced recession may have exacerbated existing concentrations in the Internet marketplace. The Biden Administration pledges to “build back better.” Competition policy is an important part of the economic recovery for working Americans.
Our panel at State of the Net will look at competition during the Obama and Trump administrations and what lessons, if any, the new Biden competition policy officials can learn from their approaches to competition in the Internet marketplace.

Two months ago we were thrilled to convene the Internet stakeholder community at the 16th annual State of the Net Conference in Washington, DC, the nation’s most prominent Internet policy summit.

We are excited to announce that the CEO of Zello Inc, Bill Moore, will participate in a keynote conversation with Representative Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, at State of the Net on January 29.
Zello is an app that transforms mobile phones into walkie-talkies, even with minimal network connection, making it especially useful during disasters. This fall, rescue workers in Texas relied on Zello to find and save flood victims stranded by Hurricane Harvey. Ms. Webb is a professor of strategic foresight at the NYU Stern School of Business and founder of the Future Today Institute, where she helps leaders and their organizations prepare for complex futures. Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein will keynote the 14th Annual State of the Net Conference on January 29, 2018 at the Newseum in Washington D.C. The Deputy Attorney General joins a roster of engaging and informative speakers who are shaping the future of Internet policy.
As second in command at the Justice Department, Mr. Rosenstein plays a key role in setting the Department’s priorities including prosecuting cyber crimes. Recently, he has argued that digital technology should be securely and “responsibly” encrypted, allowing law enforcement access to digital data with judicial authorization.

The importance of innovation in government has become a bi-partisan consensus. Connecting government officials and their departments with top talent from the US technology sector has become paramount to keep track with the rapid pace of private sector developments.
